Put your brand on it
RuggedRay is the brand and the supplier: we define and design the products in-house, and produce them through manufacturing partners building to our specification. That means the people who decide what a product does are the same people you brief — so a private label order is a conversation about the design, not a request passed down a chain.
OEM, ODM and private label — which one you need
The three get used interchangeably and they are not the same job. What separates them is how much of the design is yours, and that is what decides tooling, schedule and volume.
Private label
You take a product we already make and sell it as yours. Logo, packaging and documentation change; the hardware does not. It is the fastest route onto a shelf, and the one most brands start with.
OEM
You take our platform and change it — circuits, ratings, optics, colours, what is in the box. The engineering is ours, the specification is yours, and the result is a product nobody else is selling.
ODM
You bring the brief and we design to it, from the enclosure to the app. Longer, and the right answer when your market wants something the category does not currently make.
Where they meet
All three run through the same quality gate. The priority order does not change because a different name is on the housing: safe, then tough, then cool.
What you can change
Not a wish list — these are the things buyers ask for and we routinely do. What each one costs in tooling and schedule is quoted against your order, because a run of one model and a run of six are not the same job.
Private label
Our product, your name on it.
- Your logo printed or etched on the product
- Your artwork on the retail box and the carton
- Manuals, quick-start cards and warning labels in your wording
- Your barcodes, SKUs and country-of-sale markings
OEM
Our design, built to your specification.
- Button legends, icon sets and switch labelling
- Housing colour and finish
- Circuit count, per-channel ratings and connector choice
- Beam pattern, colour temperature and optic selection
- Harness length, terminations and what ships in the box
ODM
A product that does not exist yet.
- A new panel or luminaire defined around your market
- Interface and app behaviour designed to your brief
- Certification planned into the schedule, not bolted on after
- Tooling, samples and pilot run staged before volume

Certification does not travel with a logo
Worth knowing before you plan a launch. Our switch panels are tested to CE, FCC, RoHS 2.0 and REACH; our LED headlight bulbs hold certificates of their own; our LED work lights, LED driving lights and LED light bars hold none, and we will not let a branded order imply otherwise.
Whether you need one depends on where you sell. Buyers in the United States and Australia rarely ask us for these marks on auxiliary lighting; the ones who do are usually entering a market that requires them at the border or on the shelf. That is what we are asked for, not a reading of your market. Check what yours requires and tell us what you have to meet — where a mark is required it is a condition of selling, and neither of us can wave it through.
Where a mark is needed for your market and does not exist yet, testing is planned into the schedule and quoted like any other part of the job.
How a branded order runs
- 01
Brief
Your market, your brand, and which of the three tiers above you have in mind. A sketch or a competitor product is a perfectly good starting point.
- 02
Feasibility and quotation
We come back with what is buildable, what it changes in tooling and schedule, and a quotation against your actual model list. Where something is a bad idea, you hear that too.
- 03
Samples and artwork
Branded samples, print proofs and a specification you sign off. Nothing goes to tooling on a verbal approval.
- 04
Production and certification
Everything agreed lands in the proforma invoice before production starts. Test data and shipping documents travel with the goods.
Minimums, tooling costs, sample charges and lead time are quoted against your actual brief and confirmed in writing before production starts. We do not post a blanket figure, because the honest number depends on what you are asking for.
